Hi All,
The festive season has hit, and its been a good one.
I studied for and wrote an HP Adaptive Edge Fundamentals exam on the 19th. I got 85%. I am awesome. This now allows me to go to Johannesburg for a week to train and write the next one. Can't remember the course name at the moment. This is all part of the material required to reach my HP AIS certification. There are only a dozen guys in South Africa with this qualification, so I look forward to joining the ranks.
Side Note: In case you don't know what I do for a living, I am a Network/Systems Administrator for a medium sized ISP in Cape Town, South Africa. I work in the Network Division, and we are on a big drive to become HP Certified Procurve Partners.
I also got a full 13th cheque this year from the company I work for. That's a lot of cash. And I decided to do intelligent things with it, like paying off all my outstanding debts, and saving the majority and investing a bit. All good.
I also got Guitar Hero 3 for my Wii.
It is such a rocking game. (excuse the pun)
It's pretty clever how they integrated the standard Wii remote into the guitar to utilize its wireless capabilities. You just pop a cover on the guitar, plug a cable into the remote, stuff the remote in and close the cover again. Still didn't bring down the damn price though. It cost R899. Wow.
I nailed it on easy, but am struggling to get beat Slasher on medium. The guys a real bastard. Can't seem to kill him quickly enough, cause he gets to the end of the song and creams me with his solo. I'll keep hacking away at it.
In other news I got my old Simota air filter from my previous car (an Opel Corsa GSI) and stuck it onto my MG. The sound at full throttle is now thunderous. I love it. I still need to tweek it a bit as I think I am not getting the best air flow. I could probably squeeze quite a few more bhp out of it. Actually I know I am not getting the most out of it. There is a bit of piping that can be replace between the filter and the air intake, and I also need to reroute some of the cold air ducting.
What else has been going on? mmm. Nothings coming to mind and I have been staring at that question after i typed it for about three minutes now. Suppose when I have something to say, I'll be back!
Hey if you passed the Adaptive Edge Fundamentals exam, then you have your AIS certification. Next step is your ASE Certification. Three parts to it:
1) BPRAN - Building ProCurve Resilient Adaptive Networks
2) ProCurve Security
3) Choice of three tracks - Mobility (wouldnt do this till May when it gets updated) / SecureWAN (do you sell ProCurve Routers??) and Network Management (which enables you to understand PCM+ and IDM)
Good Luck!
