Capetonification

I was typing an email this morning and I was starting the sentence with: "I must be honest."
And that got me thinking, does this statement imply that the opinion/information I am about to give is the only bit of truth that will ever spew from my mouth, thereby implying that anything else I say or have said is a meaningless load of drivel and in all probability a lie?

Mull that one over if you tend to be a user of this kinda language.

So I have decided to delete this phrase from my English, Hebrew, and Afrikaans language bases. Cause its crap.
