« My MG Part 2 | We built this shit! » |
The Internet is fucking amazing.
We take all that it is for granted. Before I started working at eNetworks, i was a lowly techie gopher. I knew not of the amazing skill, technology, dedication and countless hours the souls of this planet invested in the 4th dimension we call the Internet.
Because that's what it is: It's a 4th dimension.
People live their lives on or through the Internet. They learn, find love, share, do good, do bad, discover knowledge, study, and most of communicate. It's a community. Does the world communicate come from community? Maybe it does. My english is pretty good, but I don't know the answer to that one.
And as all technologies converge, it just becomes ever more important. Digital means computer, and if its on a computer we can push and pull it anywhere we want. And for that we use the Internet. Before it was surfing and email. Now it's radio, VOIP. TV and the list goes on and on. It incredible.
At eNetworks, we are an ISP. That means we build onto the Internet. That's our business, we give people access, whether they are Businesses or individuals. That's a fantastic privilege, and something that I also take for grabted. I sort of ignore that sense of empowerment. I know it's not like a im giving someone a new lease on life in the form of kidneys or a heart or some shit, but what we are giving them enriches that life.
We give them access to all previously mentioned internet related technologies.
And that's pretty damn cool.
In South Africa, we might not have the greatest technology, but we do a hell of a lot with what we do have. We are very resourceful, and instead of living a life of privilege, we innovate. And that's also pretty damn cool. I must say that at this moment I am a proud SAffer.
